K/G Expands Fintech & Crypto Capabilities with the Addition of Christopher Brown
We are thrilled to announce that Austin fintech veteran Christopher Brown has joined Kastner Gravelle as a partner in our corporate group. Chris will lead a team advising K/G’s fintech and other emerging company and investor clients on corporate, licensing and other commercial transactions. He will also advise companies that are adopting blockchain, crypto and Web3 strategies as part of the next wave of innovation, where these tools and platforms become more integrated into mainstream finance and commerce, but in an increasingly regulated environment.
After leading the corporate department in the Austin office of Baker Botts, Chris has continued to establish himself as a preeminent fintech lawyer in Austin and beyond in both private practice and as General Counsel of Netspend, a global payments company (through its IPO), and Self, a consumer credit building startup and Austin unicorn.
Chris has devoted the last 20+ years to helping clients navigate their businesses through complex and ever-changing financial regulatory landscapes and is a recognized leader in advising fintech and other regulated businesses through their strategic corporate, licensing and other commercial transactions. He is a regular presenter and moderator at technology law conferences on topics ranging from digital money, smart contracts, and disruptive business models with which existing laws and regulations have not kept pace.

K/G Establishes Dedicated M&A Practice Group
In response to growing demand for our services on sell-side, buy-side and private equity merger and acquisition transactions, Kastner Gravelle has established a dedicated Mergers & Acquisitions practice group. The M&A group will be led by long-time K/G partner, Robert Housley.
Since its inception, K/G has represented emerging companies, public companies and private equity sponsors on all manner of merger and acquisition transactions. We help our emerging growth clients navigate and execute their sell-side acquisitions by strategic buyers and private equity sponsors, and we advise venture and private equity-backed emerging companies, public companies and small to middle-market private equity sponsors on their buy-side acquisitions in the technology, consumer, financial services, and other sectors.
We continuously evolve in order to anticipate and meet the needs of our client ecosystem, and the establishment of a dedicated Mergers & Acquisitions practice group in 2022 will enable us to respond to an upward pull from the market as the size, complexity and volume of our clients’ M&A transactions continue to grow. We also look forward to expanding our client relationships with serial buy-side public companies and small to middle-market private equity sponsors.
