Laurel focuses her practice on commercial transactions for technology companies, including SaaS agreements, licensing, data privacy, open source, AI compliance, and intellectual property.

Prior to joining Kastner Gravelle, Laurel served as Senior Counsel at Elastic, a publicly traded AI search company, and at Smarsh, a private equity-backed digital communications compliance company serving global financial institutions. She also served as Senior Counsel at Motorola Solutions during its expansion into SaaS. Across these roles she supported M&A due diligence and integration as these companies grew through acquisition. Earlier in her career she held a global legal and compliance role at Smiths Group plc, a FTSE 100 technology conglomerate, and consulted for the World Bank.

Laurel received her LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from The George Washington University Law School and her LL.B. (Hons.) from City University London. She also holds an M.S. in International Relations History, with a focus on Trade Economics, from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. in American Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
